People often say travelling is a great way of learning new things and meeting new people...Sometmes it can translate into much more than that...as I learnt from my last trip. When you first land on foreign soil...the expression is not awe...its more like..hell! Where did i keep my passport xerox now..After you are through wid all the umpteenth formality and get a breather...only does it begin to sink in.More so if you are travelling alone, you tend to have this very gaurded on-your-toes demeanour initially, but once you have loosened up a bit, you discover that travelling alone too can be a beautiful experience.
Each country and city dishes out its own fare...but for somebody from the single most populated nation in world, the sheer absence of humanity in Europe hits you instantly. And atleast in whole of one month I never saw even three people together!! It was funnily weird but as days rolled, everyime I had to click a pic...I'd wait for that lone pedestrian to pass, almost as if he were an unwarrented disturbance to my frame...or maybe it was just the perfect scape that lay ahead that made me indulgent.

sure lady travelling alone can be beautiful but only if r not put in on train from jodhpur-cal in a sleeper class where there are atleast 8 people in ur so-called-reserved berth!!! phew! now that's what travelling reminds me! but u bet it is still one of good things to happen...books and music...a must have for company though!
ReplyDeleteHehehe.. Reminds me of the day I landed in Luxembourg , en route to the hotel , I asked his colleague ,Is today a public holiday ? Thats because we had landed at 10 am on a tuesday morning and I saw not more 10 people at the airport and on our way I saw maybe a handful of cars , one public bus and no pedestrians at all ! She very gently replied - no its not.. Even today if we see more than 10 people anywhere on any day other than saturday , we look around for reasons to justify to ourselves their presence - is it some event , some fair ,some market ;) The list is endless but yes couldn't agree more with you that travelling alone in EU is a tough but a beautiful experience..
